# FAQ

  <Accordion title="Why is the number of active devices on WebOS apps lower than the number of opt-ins?">
    During load testing, we found that many LG TVs have a small amount of free RAM and CPU. If several Bright SDK integrated apps are installed on the TV, this may lead to a poor user experience when using the TV. In extreme cases, we encountered UI freezing, for example if the user started playing a 4K video.

    To maintain a high level of user experience, we have limited the number of simultaneously running SDK instances on the TV. Only one SDK will be running, which is the one that was installed first.

    This means if you see a small number of peers with a large number of opt-ins, then most likely most of these TVs already have apps with our SDK installed.

  <Accordion title="How does Bright SDK impact my answers to the LG privacy questionnaire?">
    Starting August 2024, LG requires developers to fill in a privacy questionnaire for their apps (same practices used in other app stores e.g. AppStore, Amazon, and Google Play).

    It is important to note that Bright SDK **does not collect** any personal information that can identify or track your users. However, it collects the IP address and performs some crash/performance analytics. Therefore, when you submit an app to the LG Appstore with Bright SDK, in addition to any privacy answers you provide in the questionnaire, please use the following:

    * Privacy Policy → fill in your privacy policy link 
    * Device ID→ Analytics
    * Other Identifier → Analytics
    * Select the country with saved data → U.S.A
    * Shared Data:  Device ID & Other Identifier

  <Accordion title="Does the LG-WebOS comply with LG's rules and restrictions?">
    **Yes**, of course. LG reviews and approves each app.

    <u>Remember:</u> we never collect any user information and allow opting-out at any time.

  <Accordion title="Which WebOS versions are supported by Bright SDK?">
    The Bright SDK is supported by versions 3.0 and up, or TVs from year 2016 and above.

  <Accordion title="Am I being paid even if my WebOS App is not being used?">
    Great news! Once your user has opted-in you start earning. 

    This information is available to you in real time on the developer dashboard.

  <Accordion title="Will my app generate money even while the TV is turned off?">
    **No.**

  <Accordion title="Will the WebOS SDK continue working if the user updates their TV's operating system?">
    **Yes.**

  <Accordion title="Will the LG-WebOS SDK interfere with watching TV or using other apps?">
    Nope, it will run in the background.

  <Accordion title="How do I find out the WebOS version on my LG?">
    Open your LG TV Settings and look for your general TV specification.

    Or log in to your Netflix account, and open the left hand side settings menu **Get Help > Device > Software Version.**

  <Accordion title="My dashboard shows 0 active devices even though users opted in. Why?">
    The app needs to pass the self-check and Bright Data review before devices start counting. Also check that the app status is set to "Active/Approved" in the dashboard.

  <Accordion title="How to obtain BrightSDK API Key?">
    The BrightSDK tools authenticate with the releases API using an API key. Follow these steps to create one.

    1. **Open API Keys**\
       Log in to the [BrightSDK Control Panel](https://bright-sdk.com/cp/settings/company_profile#api_keys) - this links directly to the **API keys** section. <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BrightSDK/bright-sdk-integration/main/docs/img/auth_step2_api_keys.png" alt="API keys section" />
    2. **Create a new key**\

    3. **Copy your key**\

           <Warning>
             **Important:** Once you close this dialog the key cannot be retrieved. If lost, delete and create a new one.

    4. **Set the environment variable** **macOS / Linux** - export in your shell:
       ```bash theme={null}
       export SDK_API_KEY="<your-api-key>"
       ```
       To persist across sessions:
       ```bash theme={null}
       echo 'export SDK_API_KEY="<your-api-key>"' >> ~/.zshrc
       ```
       **Windows (PowerShell)** - set for the current session:

       $env:SDK_API_KEY = "<your-api-key>"
       ```
       To persist for your user (survives reboots):
       ```powershell theme={null}
       [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("SDK_API_KEY", "<your-api-key>", "User")
       ```
       **Windows (CMD)** - set for the current session:
